     John R. PRICE was the son of William H. PRICE and Elizabeth DIXON. John R. PRICE was Was attending a military school somewhere in the North when the war broke out. ¹ He went to Richmond and joined Company H (Cpt Robert MacFarland) of the Fourth Alabama Regiment. He remained with the regiment from 7 May 1861 to 2 July 1861, when he was discharged at Winchester, Virginia, and made his way back to Florence, Alabama. ² He was later sent to Florida as a drill master and afterwards to Scotland to bring back a vessel that was being built for the Confederacy. ¹
