Elizabeth Morton WOODSON was born on 29 April 1815 at Christian County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Richard WOODSON and Rachel P. ROBERTSON. Elizabeth Morton WOODSON married John Fontaine NICOLDS on 28 March 1833. Elizabeth Morton WOODSON died in 1895 at Denton, Texas.
Elizabeth Morton WOODSON Elizabeth Morton, born April 29, 1815, in Christian county, Kentucky, where, it appears, the family had stopped temporarily on their journey to Missouri. When the journey was resumed, she was taken along to Chariton county, Missouri, where she was reared and educated. 1 She was married March 28, 1833, to John Fontaine Nicolds of Howard county, Missouri. He was the grandson of John Nicolds and Rhoda Green, who emigrated from Ireland about 1750 and settled in Henry county, Virginia. They had only one son, Thomas Nicolds, born in Virginia about 1751, was married to Sarah Lane, died in 1826 and is buried beside his father near Spencer, in Henry county, Virginia. Thomas Nicolds and Sarah Lane had issue: Caroline, Matilda, Rhoda, Sarah (married Dandridge), Virginia (married Staples), Green Berry, and John Fontaine Nicolds, who was born February 28, 1807, in Henry county, Virginia. He went to Missouri in 1830, settling in Howard county, and was married on March 28, 1833, to Elizabeth Morton Woodson. They spent their entire wedded life in and near Glasgow, Howard county, Missouri, where all of their 12 children were born. He died there in 1862. His widow continued to occupy the old home and cared for their children until they were grown. 1 She died in 1895 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Keyte, in Denton Texas, having rounded out her four-score years. 1 "She suffered much on her long journey through life, but bore all with a sweetness of spirit that today makes her memory a benediction to her children and grandchildren." 1 As of 28 March 1833,her married name was NICOLDS.
