Joseph WOODSON married Mary Jane WOODSON, daughter of John WOODSON and Mary TUCKER.1 Joseph WOODSON was born circa 1663/64 at Curles, Henrico County, Virginia. He was the son of Robert WOODSON and Elizabeth FERRIS. Joseph WOODSON died circa 1734/35 at Goochland County, Virginia.
Joseph WOODSON Joseph, born about 1664, at Curles in Henrico county, and died October, 1735. He married his second cousin Mary Jane Woodson, daughter of John Woodson, and Mary Tucker, who was the orphan of Samuel Tucker, Captain of the Ship Vine Tree. Samuel Tucker's widow Jane, was married before 1680 to John Pleasants' of Curles, and died in 1709. Her will was proved in Henrico county in 1709, and names her granddaughter Jane Woodson, and grandsons, Joseph Woodson, Benjamin Woodson and Samuel Tucker Woodson. Mary Tucker Woodson, mother of Mary Jane Woodson, died in 1710. In her will, proved in Henrico, August 1, 1710, she names a daughter, Jane, and grandson, John Woodson, son of daughter Jane, granddaughter Mary, daughter of daughter Jane, and grandson Joseph, son of daughter Jane. This seems to establish the fact that the wife of Joseph Woodson was Jane Woodson; though her full name may have been, and doubtless was, Mary Jane Woodson. Mary Tucker Woodson also mentions in her will, grandson, " Sanburne Woodson, child of my daughter Mary, wife of my son Joseph." These last names, no doubt, mean Mary Sanburne, wife of Joseph Woodson. And the child Sanburne was Sanburne Woodsons who married Elizabeth Hughes. Joseph Woodson died in Goochland county and his will was proved October 15, 1735. In it he names children; Mary Woodson, who married Stephen Woodson; Judith Woodson, who married Charles Christian; Martha Woodson, who married John Cannon; and Tucker Woodson. (See Wm. and Mary Qtly.) It appears that the last three children were born in Goochland; so Joseph Woodson must have moved to that county shortly after the death of his mother-in-law, Mary (Tucker) Woodson who died in Henrico in 1710.
